Ryoko Kaneta Solo Exhibition
“In the Flow of Light”

From Friday, September 12 to Monday, October 6, 2025
KYOTO TSUTAYA BOOKS

Ryoko Kaneta’s solo exhibition “In the Flow of Light” was held at KYOTO TSUTAYA BOOKS.
The main visual work, Onokoro, was inspired by the “Kuniumi (Birth of the Nation) Myth” passed down on Nushima Island in Minamiawaji City, Hyogo Prefecture. Nushima is believed by some to be the legendary “Onokoro Island” where the deities Izanagi and Izanami appear in Japanese mythology. Kaneta created this work based on her visit to the island and the impressions and scenes she encountered there.

The exhibition title, “In the Flow of Light,” expresses the idea of entrusting oneself to the small guiding lights—likened to beacons—represented by the landscapes and memories encountered along a journey.
The exhibition featured a selection of works including canvas paintings and travel-inspired drawings, allowing many visitors to immerse themselves in Kaneta’s distinctive artistic world.
